Jay Choi, A Success On Japan Golf Tour

Jay Choi, a 28 year old tour player from Wildomar, CA. and a graduate of Gahr High School in Cerritos, CA., is finding success on the Japan Golf Tour (Japan’s version of the PGA Tour). After graduating from Gahr H.S., Jay was recruited by Coach Glen Millican to attend the University of New Mexico where he achieved All-American honor’s and graduated with a degree in Communication’s.

After playing several year’s on U.S. mini tour’s, Jay had an opportunity to attend the Japan Golf Tour Qualifying School. Jay advanced through the difficult stage’s of the “Q” School before finishing in third place in the final stage. That outstanding finish provided Jay with a place to play full time, where he showed that he could play at the highest level’s of competition. In 2010, Jay had five, top ten finish’s with his best showing of a second and a third. Jay has earned nearly $1,000,000.00 in less than two year’s on tour in Japan.

Jay has shot 64, two time’s on tour and has a low nine hole score of 30. The talented player has had a low of 10 putt’s (2 time’s) for nine hole’s and 23 putt’s (2 time’s) for eighteen hole’s. The young 28 year old is currently ranked 19th in Asia and has been ranked as low as 185 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Jay will continue to play in Japan, building a base, before he return’s to the U.S. to qualify on the PGA Tour. He has worked with his instructor and coach, George Pinnell, for nearly 14 year’s.
